Refund, Transfer & Cancellation Policy

We totally get it – plans change. But as a small business, late cancellations and no-shows can really impact our events and the satisfaction levels of our members.

Here’s our policy to keep things fair for everyone. It also outlines what happens if we cancel an event.

If you cancel your place

Refunds

Tickets are non-refundable.

Transfers

More than 36 hours before an event – we’ll happily transfer your ticket once to another event of the same value (if it won’t affect the gender balance).

Within 36 hours of an event – sorry, it’s too late to move your booking to another event. You can transfer it to a friend though – but they must have an active online account with us.

If we cancel an event

If Single & Mingle have to cancel or reschedule an event, you’ll be offered a full refund or a free transfer to another event of your choice and of the same value.

In the event of a cancellation, you will be notified via email and SMS no less than 24 hours of an event’s start date. We advise you don’t book parking or transport until our cancellation window has passed.

We recommend you add [email protected] to your safe senders list as often our emails will find their way to your junk folder.

Why might we cancel an event?

Sometimes we have to decide whether to let an event go ahead or not.

If we suspect an event won’t be a great one, we’d much rather cancel and refund you, than allow an event to go ahead and you have a sub-standard experience.

There are a number of reasons an event might have to be cancelled.

Low numbers

The most common reason is that we didn’t get enough bookings for an event to go ahead. We have an ethical minimum number of bookings that we feel is acceptable, which is 18 bookings. If we don’t achieve 18 bookings within 24 hours of an event, it will be cancelled.

As an example, let’s say we have 30 people booked onto an event, and 20 of those people request to cancel their place in line with our policy, this would then mean that there weren’t enough people for an event to go ahead.

Frustratingly, and as seems to be the case across the board with dating events, many of our members don’t book until last minute (some book on the bus on the way to an event). To help us manage numbers in advance of an event, we recommend you book as early as possible – thank you in advance.

Unbalanced ratio

Although we can never guarantee an even mix of ladies and gents, for example, at our heterosexual events, we do try our best.

We could be lucky enough to get an even amount of ladies and gents book onto an event, but if a handful of men don’t turn up, the balance is uneven – hence why we can’t guarantee this.

If a balance is drastically uneven, for example, 20% women and 80% men, an event will be cancelled.

Issues out of our control

There have been two situations where an event hasn’t been able to go ahead due to reasons out of our control.

The first was a power outage at a venue – it was too late notice to find another venue, and so the event was cancelled.

The second was due to an enforce venue closure by the police. There was an incident a few doors down from an event and the police closed down the neighbouring venues and enforced people to leave the area. The event had already started and people were still arriving.

Although some situations are out of our control, if/when they occur, you will be given a complimentary ticket to a future event.

No-Shows

We appreciate that last minute things crop up, and that emergencies happen, but unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund or transfer for no-shows, as your place was reserved and will have impacted the balance of the event.
