Our Connection Café is a calm and relaxed morning social of coffee, board games, and pressure-free connections.

Games Haven has a huge range of fantastic board and card games, but don’t worry, we’ll carefully hand-pick a selection that are fun, inclusive, and great for gently sparking conversation. We choose games that are easy to learn, light-hearted, and don’t require you to perform or be loud (unless you want to be!).

Some examples of games we’ve played in the past include:

  • Poetry for Neanderthals
  • Herd Mentality
  • Secret Identity
  • Camel Up
  • So Clover
  • Phantom Ink
  • Geisters blitz (ghost blitz English translation),
  • Dobble
  • Just One
  • Coup
  • Wereword
  • How am I Weird
  • Code Names
  • What Next
  • Concept
  • Sushi Go

We’ll explain how to play if you’d like help, or you’re welcome to just watch until you’re ready to join in. There’s no pressure to engage in any specific way – your comfort comes first.

If there’s a particular game you’d like to try, just ask your host and we’ll do our best to get a small group together. There are also some adult/rude games available (like Cards Against Humanity), but these are entirely optional and only played by request.

About Single and Mingle

Since 2021, Single and Mingle has brought thousands of singles together across the UK. Connection Café is our neurodivergent-friendly board game edition, designed to be calm, welcoming, and flexible – with no pressure, no loud music, and no awkward icebreakers.

We keep these events small (max 25 people) to create a more relaxed and manageable environment.

There’s no forced fun or rigid format — just a safe space to:

  • Connect at your own pace
  • Make new friends or meet other singles
  • Enjoy games without pressure
  • Explore dating in a gentle, supported way

Everyone attending is single and open to connection, whether that’s friendship, dating, or something in between. And remember: it’s totally okay to be quiet, nervous, or need breaks – we’ve created this event with that in mind.

Let your host know if you need anything – we’re here to support you.

What to expect

🧭 Arrival – 10:30am

Doors open at 10:30am, and we encourage guests to arrive on time if possible. We’ll be getting started with the first round of games shortly after – though don’t worry, you can still join in later without it feeling awkward. You’ll be welcomed by your friend host and issued with a name sticker.

🎲 Games in Short Bursts

We’ll play a selection of light, social board and card games in short rounds, with the option to rotate between tables or stay put. There’s no pressure to play every game — take breaks whenever you like, and engage at your own pace.

☕ Free Tea & Coffee

Help yourself to complimentary tea and coffee throughout. There’s also a cafe with snacks and light bites available to purchase. You’re welcome to take time out to enjoy a quiet moment with a drink whenever you need.

🏳️‍🌈 Inclusive and Respectful

This is an inclusive space for people of all ages, sexual orientations, and relationship styles. Everyone is single and here to connect – whether that’s for friendship, dating, or just enjoying some quality social time.

🧠 ND-Friendly Environment

The vibe is low-pressure, sensory-considerate, and welcoming to all neurotypes. There’s no loud music, no icebreakers, and no forced mingling – just a calm, supportive space to be yourself.

🕓 Event Duration

The hosted part of the event lasts 2.5 hours, but you’re welcome to stay and keep playing or chatting afterwards. Once the host has wrapped up, feel free to stick around if you’re enjoying yourself.

🥰 Connect with someone after the event

Look out for our “Thanks for joining us” email the day after an the event. There will be a link to our Connection Request form, inviting you to tell us who you’d like us to pass your details on to. All you have to do is remember the name on their sticker, and we’ll do the rest.

About Single & Mingle

Single & Mingle do not do speed dating events – we’re different!

We’ve created a pressure-free social for up to 40 people, where you can chat to as many people as you like, for as long as you like.

The emphasis is very much on broadening your social circle, rather than feeling the pressure to meet your match.

Our informal singles events are about spending less time on dating apps and more time with real people in real life.

We’re here to help you to:

Format of our events

We are a relaxed mixer for up to 40 people, that allows you to mingle at your own pace. There’s no forced fun, rigid structure or set format – simply turn up and get mingling!

We are not a speed dating event!

Everyone at our events is single, so get chatting, have fun, and enjoy getting to know new people. And remember, some people will be feeling a little nervous, so please be mindful of this.

Connection request service

We don’t want you to feel any pressure to ask for people’s details.

That’s why we have our fuss-free post-event connection request service.

The day after an event, we’ll send you an email with a link to a form. Simply fill it out and include the name of the person you’d like us to try and connect you with and a little message, and we’ll pass it on for you.

It’s then up to that person whether they get back to you or not.

Tickets & Bookings

Pre-booking is advised

Limited early bird tickets are available up to two weeks before an event – but when they’re gone, they’re gone.

As event organisers, we really appreciate early bookings so we can manage numbers and the expectations of our fabulous hosts and venue partners.

On-the-door tickets

A small number of tickets might be available on-the-door. We invite you to contact us on the morning of an event to check as we’d hate for you to turn up and there not be any tickets left.

On-the-door payments can be made in cash or via a QR payment link.

No-shows

Nobody likes a no-show! If you’ve committed to come along, please do, but we understand that things come up last minute.

If you’ve booked a ticket and can no longer attend, please email [email protected] to let us know.

Creating the best experience for each other

How to get the most out of an event

Think of our events as a way to broaden your social circle generally, not just to find love. Some incredible friendships have been formed as a result of our events.

Social etiquette rules

Our events attract kind, friendly, and approachable people. However, if anyone is seen to be breaking any of our social etiquette rules, they will be asked to leave, without a refund, and will not be allowed back!

Not the event for you? Subscribe to our mailing list to hear about other events.
