Meet new people in your area
We put a lot of time and effort into promoting our socials across various channels to attract as many new members to each event as possible. And we’re proud to share that at most of our meetups we attract 60% new members – lots of new people for you to meet each and every time!
90% of first-time members arrive to our socials alone. After this we find a lot of our members head to our meetups with friends they made at a previous social.
Our socials fore members-only and are aimed at single adults over 35.
Warm welcome from your hosts
We have a great team of hosts across the UK who are always excited to welcome you to your local meetups.
Upon arrival, you will be:
- greeted by your host
- checked-in (simply give your name)
- given a name sticker to wear
Your host will be around during the event to ensure you’re having a good time. And if you need them for anything, they’re very happy to help – just ask!
Ice-breakers
Scattered around the room you’ll find some Conversation Starters – little cards, each with a question on that you can ask the person or people next to you.
They’re a great way to ease your way to break the ice and get chatting to folk.
Here are a few examples:
- If you could be any animal, what would you be, and why?
- Where would you love to travel next?
- Do you have any tattoos?
You get the idea.
We also have our popular Ice-breaker Jenga! This is an optional game that people can play. Each of the blocks have ice-breaker questions on, which again, encourage conversation with new people.
Ding ding
Every so often, we ring a bell. This is used as a prompt to get you mingling.
The bell is designed to:
- encourage you to talk to as many people as possible (everyone and anyone)
- stop people from hogging people
- help you move on to others without feeling awkward
- leave conversations you no longer wish to be in
Safe environment
We want our members to feel safe and at ease before, during and after our socials. If you feel unsafe or vulnerable at any point, come and find a host, or approach a member of the venue team and Ask For Angela
Following up with people you meet
After each event, you’ll receive a follow-up email inviting you to connect with people you met.
So if you met someone you’d like to see again but didn’t get their details, this is your chance to reach out and continue the conversation.
All you need to do is head to My Connections in your members area, select the meetup you attended, and submit a connection request to the people you’d like to continue the conversation with – easy peasy.
Have a question?
If there’s anything you’re unsure of, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
